Live long and prosper...or something like that

Well, Saturday Caleb and I went to our first Sci-Fci convention in Salt Lake. It was called the Conduit Convention. Now before you get too alarmed I will tell you we did not dress up. Granted, I joked about putting "Spock" ears on Brigham and Kaiya, but I was not tempted to wear a costume myself. I will let Caleb speak for himself. I wish I would have taken a few snapshots of some of the interesting costumes we came across. Unfortunately my shyness kicked in and I felt rude taking pictures of strangers. I will just summarize by saying we were dressed like the minority and not the majority.

Some of you may be wondering what we were doing at a Science Fiction convention in the first place. Well, Caleb wanted to attend some of the writing workshops various authors were teaching. He was able to attend and enjoy them. I originally thought about trying to take the kids, but I knew it would be too difficult. So after I walked through the art exhibit with Caleb I took Brigham and Kaiya to Discovery Gateway. It was so fun to watch them play. They had a ball.

Why just go down the slide when you can take a teeter-totter down the slide. Oh, Brigham today you showed me the true meaning of multi-tasking.


It was so fun to watch him. He would push the teeter-totter up the slide. Then he would hop on and ride it down the slide. It was such a hoot. I am not sure how many loops he made, but he had several people laughing.

He even managed to push two wheel barrows around. What an efficient child.

Seven Years And Still In Love

I never took a chance to post about mine and Caleb's anniversary. We celebrated seven years of marriage on May 10th. This year also marked our first decade of knowing each other. We married exactly three years after the day we met. I am amazed how the time has flown. Now, ten years and two children later I am still head over heels in love with Caleb. I am so lucky to have married my best friend. Life is great, but it is even better when you can be with the one you love.

Jamie is Here

We exchanged one niece for another. Jamie is here to visit for the week. She brought her best friend Flower. She is a purple hippo Jamie made at the "Build a Bear Shoppe." Jamie informed me she loves Strawberry Shortcake and Thomas the Train. Brigham and Kaiya love having their cousin here. They will be disappointed when it is just boring old mom again.

Nana's Cake

Yesterday Brigham helped his Nana Aldeen stir the cake. Afterwards she let him lick the bowl for a reward. Isn't he a cutie.

Hanna is Here

I am watching my niece Hanna this week while her mom and dad go house shopping in Peoria, Illinois. She is a year younger than Brigham and six months older than Kaiya, so it is fun to watch them play together. Today we went out for ice cream cones and then played in the backyard.

This is a picture I am pulling out of archive, but I just love it. Brigham, Tymbre and Creed are all the same size and wacthing TV together. My favorite is the hands resting on laps. I think the photo is too cute not too share.

Mama, I'm Swimming!

Yesterday I was trying to get Brigham to take a bath. He was refusing. So finally I gave up and just put Kaiya into the bathtub. The phone rang. I went to answer the phone. Upon my return to the bathroom I see Brigham in the tub, fully clothed. Actually, he removed his socks;I thought that was the best touch. He sees me and yells "Mama, I'm Swimming." I thought it was too cute to get angry. I am sure many kids have done this, but it was so fun to experience it with my own.

Ode to our Saturn

Today we sold our car. We thought it was a good idea, but now we miss it. When the purchaser drove the car away Brigham turned to me and said "mama car, mama car" then he started to get frantic and cried. I thought he was unique and cute until later when Caleb came home from work. I told him I had sold the car. He got kind of quiet and said "I didn't even get to say good-bye." He even got a little teary eyed. Now I know where Brigham gets his sweetness. It certainly wasn't from me. I was bummed about not having the car anymore, but I was more concerned about how I am suppose to get around now. Yikes! The bottom line is this little white car was fantastic for us. Hopefully we can find another that will be just as good. In the mean time, if you see a lady strutting around Tooele with a kid on each hip, stop and offer her a ride.

My Little Chef

One Morning after making breakfast Kaiya woke up. I went to get her out of her crib leaving the frying pan and carton of eggs on the stove. When I came back into the kitchen Brigham was cooking his own breakfast. He had pulled a chair up to the stove and cracked an egg into the pan. He was stirring the egg and gave me a huge grin when I walked in. I thought it was so cute I let him finish. I turned the stove on removed the egg shells from the other egg he cracked and let him stir the eggs until they were cooked. He even added his own salt and pepper. I placed them on a plate and he ate them all.
He is such an independent little thing. I swear he will be ready to move out on his own at the age of five.
