Caleb's parents came to visit us while we were in New York. We had a ton of fun on their visit. The first night we ate dinner at the Boat Yard Grill and then watched the lightning bugs behind our house. The next day we stopped by Stewart Park to see the geese and the sailboats. Brigham and Kaiya played on the swings and rode the carousel. After the park we went the Farmer's Market and then stopped by the waterfall at Buttermilk State Park. We also went to Treman State Park to hike the gorge.
While at the gorge Brigham decided to chuck his shoes over the railing. The little rascal! Since I am such a daring and often impulsive lady I decided to climb over the rock ledge and manuever my way down the "cliff" atop the waterfall to rescue the $2.00 clearance shoes. After a few tense minutes (on my side) and with the help of my father-in-law and an unknown gentleman I was able to get back over the rock wall and return to the safety of the trail. Prehaps next time I will just let the shoes litter the landscape-ha ha.
Poor Caleb missed all the "drama" because he was further up the trail talking with a older lady. I however have another entry to add to my "strong ol' mama" journal.
We ended the night by watching Brigham open presents since it was his birthday. All day we tried to teach him he was three. He claimed to be 2, 4 and 5 but never 3. We finally got him to say 3 by Sunday night. Hooray!
Sunday we drove to a little town about an hour north called Skaneatleles. Here we window shopped and found an ice cream shop selling fresh blueberry sundaes. YUMMY!
We had planned to watch a Polo Match, but it had been cancelled due to the rain. BUMMER! Luckily the drive to and from Skaneateles was beautiful, so it was not a wasted trip.
The last day Caleb was in class, but I went with Clark and Aldeen to see the gorge at Buttermilk Falls State Park. Afterwards we went to the Cornell campus and looked at some of the buildings. At noon there was a chimes concert at the clock tower, so we found a bench in a little flower garden next to a neat looking church. Here we could sit and listen to the chimes while we waited to meet Caleb during his lunch hour. After this we said our good-byes and went out seperate ways. It was a fanstastic way to spend out last weekend here in Ithaca.
Stay tuned for more pictures. I can't seem to get more photos to upload. Sometimes computers can be such a pain-grrr!!
