I can't live without music. If I am in my car music is playing. If I am at home music is playing. I just love it. And there never seems to be enough music. I am always finding new songs I love. And with one or two exceptions I love every genre of music there is. The love of music is an important part of my identity. I find it therapeutic. Music will help me express how I am feeling. Often it can set my mood for the day. Fellow music lovers will understand what I am trying to say.
About this post....usually, I will hear songs on the radio and think I want to put that on my playlist. Somehow it never gets done. This post is to commemorate my success at finally tracking down a song and adding it to my playlist. It is kind of an odd song to showcase, but it does happen to be the first one.
It is a song I have heard on the radio quite a bit lately. There is something "catchy" about this song. Enjoy.

Chrstmas Eve Pajamas

This year for Christmas Eve we went to dinner at the Outback Steakhouse with Clark, Aldeen, and Chalan and Ryan. Ater dinner we drove back to the house and read two Christmas poems. They were special poems because Clark had read them to his mother on the day she died. We then ate some burnt cream pudding which Clark had made for us and opened our Christmas pajamas. After the kids were in their pajamas. We went on a drive with Clark and Aldeen. We looked at Christmas lights and drove through the cementary. Aldeen's co-worker had told her about a family tradition of leaving a burning candle on a loved one's grave. So we decided to go and see the candles. Due to the fresh snowfall, the stillness of the night, and the flicker of candles across the cementary, it was a peaceful feeling. Caleb and I quite enjoyed our drive through the cementary and will go again next year. We also plan to come prepared with our own candles to leave on our loved ones graves. I love new traditions.
By the Way
Just a quick side note between my catch up posts, but I love Winter skies. I know not all people feel this way, but I love overcast skies and fog. Granted I love the sunshine too and often miss it, but it is no substitute for the coziness I feel when it is gray outside. I chose the new picture for the top of my blog because when I saw it I thought "aah, I love those days." So, welcome gray skies, and please don't think I am a nut for loving depressing weather.
-Cheers!

Palfreyman Family Christmas Party
Caleb's family has a super fun tradition of making gingerbread houses. This year we made them at the family Christmas party. After the dinner and the gingerbread houses we had our talent show. Each family brought something to contribute to the show. We ended the night by acting out the Nativity story. My children have still not participated due sleepiness/crankiness. I am really hoping next year Brigham and Kaiya will want to join in. Regardless, I love watching all my adorable nieces and nephews dress up.
I was suprised how much Brigham could decorate on his own. (Granted he is no Picasso-at least not yet) I thought I would need to help him more than I did. My favorite about his house this year was his licorice tower and apple rings. Something he added all by himself.

I am sure more candy landed in Brigham and Kaiya's mouth than one thier houses, but it was close.
Tymbre and Kaiya pounding away on the piano. It added to the noisy, rambunkcious (spelling???) atmosphere. Isn't that was family get togethers are all about? Below are the award ceremony for the gingerbread houses. Brigham won the "Who Ville" award and Kaiya won "Candy Land for Princesses" award.

Brigham couldn't resist after seeing all that candy. Don't you just love his sheepish look.
On to the talent show.....the kids love the music.
I think Kaiya is Chance's number one fan. This year he played Ghostriders in the Sky, Grandpa Clark's favorite song. It was fantastic.
Finally, the Nativity.

Pizza and a Christmas Tree
What happens when a blogger goes MIA for a month??? -out dated abbreviated posts. So, here is the first of my catch-up posts.
For Family Home Evening one week we put up our Christmas tree and enjoyed a pizza dinner. As you can see from the pictures, my kids love pizza. It is embarassing to admit it, but the tree is thanks to Caleb. I had a bit of the Scrooge bug this year; (I am still searching for the reason why????) I was not going to put up a tree. Luckily, is was Caleb to the rescue. He went out a bought a tree with the insistence we had one. So, we decorated it that night and I have enjoyed its glow many nights this month. So, THANK YOU CALEB for keeping my Christmas spirit alive.
Caleb's best "cheesing it" smile.

Later that night, Kaiya enjoyed wearing the Christmas stockings as hats except for when it got "tuck" (stuck)
